Clap Out Cloud is a band started in Beloit, WI (more specifically, Beloit College) by Philip Barrett (Chicago, Illinois). The band was brought to life in late February with the writing of instant classics "Clap Your Hands if You Want to Dance," and "If I didn't Have Hands." After the birth of these two songs, Philip realized the endless amount of subjects to write "clapping" on and decided to start Clap Out Cloud.

Jack Katze (Memphis, Tennessee) was the first recruited into the band as a clapper/vocalist. Philp and Jack had played in bands together before, but nothing as revolutionary as Clap Out Cloud, and Jack was excited to be part of Clap Out Cloud from the beginning.

Later that night Hanna Brown (Rochester, New York) was recruited as a clapper/vocalist. After a short demonstration of her clapping/singing abilities she was in.

Though it took Clap Out Cloud until early late March, early April to begin practicing the band quickly grew into a cult fad on campus. Playing their first show on Beloit College's "Spring Day" for a good 4-5 devoted listeners, it was instantly obvious the band was a hit.

They continued to play classics such as "If We Were Dogs" for die hard COC fans reciting the words with the band. Before the end of the semester Clap Out Cloud was able to record a quick demo of all of their songs (The COC (demoz)), and most of that can be downloaded on the website.

Also, here I'm gonna put top audience members of Clap Out Cloud. These are folks who really know how to clap and have a good time with a clap band: Nick Buenrrostro, Jake Joyce, Tim Joyce Jr., John Stone, Alex Amidjaya, Sean Keith, Drew Shires, Aidan Perrizo, Kate Hermans, and anybody  else I forgot to mention sorry, but you'll be here someday.
